Our union is underway!
Welcome to SEIU Workers United Southern Region Local 29! While negotiations have yet to officially start, our bargaining committee has already formed subcommittees to hone in on the key contract issues (e.g., finances, health insurance, international student support etc.) Weingarten rights are already in effect.
To voice your priorities for the negotiations process, take our contract priorities survey, and/or attend an upcoming focus group.
In March, union members voted in favor of this statement of solidarity in support of Palestine.
If you haven’t already, sign your union authorization card to become an official union member. The union will represent all Emory PhD student-workers regardless of membership, and negotiated changes will affect all PhD student-workers. However, only union members can vote in upcoming elections for union leadership, join the bargaining committee, and vote on solidarity statements and our eventual contract. As a reminder, dues only start once we have all approved a contract.
